In 2008 Tucows launched Hover.com, a domain registration platform aimed at being the easiest way to buy and use domain names. Anyone who has had to wrestle with GoDaddy’s hideous platform will appreciate Tucow’s train of thought when launching this product.
This week Tucows launched Hover.TV to compliment their Hover.Com registry.
Hover.TV’s mission is to the easiest way to buy and use .TV domain names.
Hover manager Ross Rader said “Over the years, we’ve watched a lot of TLDs try to carve out real meaning for themselves and .tv is one of the few that has done it.”
Seeing direct interest and investment in the .TV extension by a major internet services company such as Tucows is another positive for .TV.
.TV is continuing it’s hot streak, with Shoes.TV attracting a strong Bid at SEDO.
Will the potential buyer turn out to be
A. Shoes.Com protecting their name space.
B. Portalis Group continuing their premium .TV buying spree.
C. None of the above.
.TV domainers, hold on to your product .TV’s…..because the penny is starting to drop.
On late night TV last night I spotted a Sharp promoting their new line of Aquos LCD televisions with the doamain Quattron.TV
In Honesty, that site doesn’t do the product justice so also check out the Aquos site.
The use of .TV in this case was likely driven by the fact that the .com is developed. It is still a positive to see the industry recognising and using the extension.
Ex 2.5k PA premium France.TV drops tonight with a reported one off premium of 2K. From then on holding France.TV will cost the owner $25 per year.
This one, a no brainer investment for who ever has the smarts to catch it first. With Italy.TV selling on the aftermarket for 19K just a few weeks ago, it would seem who ever catches France.TV could turn it around for a very short time for well in excess of 10K profit.
Good luck domainers – start your drop catchers.
Please post predictions on who you think the winner may be.
We are aiming to review .TV devs with as much frequency as possible to highlight the use of the extension to the domaining community. We are stumbling across multiple new devs every day, so it is unlikely we will be able to cover them all.
So we begin with PartOfTheGame.TV - A Carlsberg branded .TV dev that takes you in to the lives of football fans. Really well developed site with branded embeddable media players. The content on the site is engaging and really takes you in to the life of the fans.
Happen to be watching TV right now, and can confirm that the uniquely produced content we are finding on .TV devs is more interesting than anything that hass been on all night.
